Whomever wishes to impact this budget in a positive way should familiarize themselves immediately with the 44 recommendations of the Nevada SAGE Commission which completed its work on December 31. Bruce James, Commission Chair, handed over the final report of the Commission covering those recommendations this morning (January 7). If implemented, they would result in approximately $2 billion (with a "B") in savings to the State over five years. Neither the Governor nor the Legislature did enough to implement SAGE recommendations in the 2009 session. 2011 will have to be different.

Frank is absolutely correct. Good ideas, no matter their genesis or parentage, must be reviewed and, hopefully, implemented if we are to survive in any reasonable shape our current economic woes.
